City of Brussels

Country : Belgique/België (BE)
Address : Rue des Halles, 4, 1000, Brussels, Belgique/België (BE) 1000 Brussels

The City of Brussels brings extensive expertise in property management, sustainable urban planning and climate transition to MultiRoofs.

Managing around 500 public buildings and more than 12,000 housing units, the City already has significant experience in unlocking the potential of its building stock. Through its Living Roofs initiative, it has assessed 150 rooftops covering approximately 220,000 m², alongside tools such as its solar potential map.

Within MultiRoofs, The City of Brussels acts as a real-world testing ground, providing local data, implementing pilot actions and testing the Digital Twin on concrete rooftop projects. The City also explores and refines financial and non-financial incentives to encourage both large and small property owners to adopt multifunctional rooftops, while ensuring that the project’s solutions respond to local planning priorities and policy needs. Finally, The City of Brussels contributes to the project’s training and knowledge-transfer activities, connecting local authorities, urban planners and other stakeholders to help turn the lessons from MultiRoofs into long-term urban practice.
