Keeping ideas alive: the "Ligne des Bulles" study report is now available

Following the on-site study carried out within the MONA project and presented earlier in our article "Rethinking railway stations to make them more welcoming for residents and visitors", the work developed around the train stations of the "Ligne des Bulles" in the Montagne de Reims Regional Nature Park has now been gathered into a dedicated study report.

Produced and printed by the Parc naturel régional de la Montagne de Reims and its partners, this publication brings together the analyses, ideas and project proposals developed throughout the workshops conducted with students from IREST and IATEUR-ESI Reims, local authorities and stakeholders between 2024 and 2025. The study focused on four train stops located within the Park territory: Rilly-la-Montagne, Germaine, Avenay-Val-d'Or and Aÿ-Champagne, considered as future gateways to the destination.

While some of the proposals, especially those related to urban planning, public spaces and station surroundings, are part of a long-term perspective and may not be implemented immediately, the report provides an important reference document for the years ahead. Its value goes beyond the MONA project itself: it allows the Park, municipalities and partners involved in the study to keep track of the ideas that emerged during the process and to preserve a shared vision for future developments. This is particularly relevant in the current context, following the recent municipal elections and the arrival of new local representatives who will progressively take ownership of ongoing projects.

The report therefore acts both as a record of the collective work carried out during the on-site study and as a source of inspiration for future actions around sustainable mobility, landscape integration and visitor experience. Beyond the urban planning dimension, the publication also includes a tourism action plan developed during the workshops. Several of these actions are expected to be partially implemented through the MONA project, contributing to the promotion of sustainable tourism and rail-based access to the natural and cultural heritage of the territory. The study combines reflections on visitor experience, sustainable mobility, tourism development and station enhancement as territorial gateways.

This report will remain a useful working tool for the Park and its partners, ensuring that the ideas developed during this collaborative process continue to support future initiatives long after the workshops have ended.
